Vehicle Heaters

The Mikuni range of vehicle heaters are all Diesel fuelled independent units requiring a 12 or 24 volt D.C. supply. Fuel is drawn from the main tank of the vehicle via a fuel metering pump and fed to the heater where it is ignited and burnt within a sealed combustion chamber. All the products of combustion are then exhausted via a flexible stainless steel tube to the outside of the vehicle. The Mikuni heaters are all electronically controlled and simple to use, just switch on at the thermostat, set the desired temperature and the rest is automatic!

Options:

There are basically two types of system available with different size heaters to suit all types of vehicles, they are all simple to use and economical to run.

Option 1 - Blown Air

The MY range of Mikuni heaters are blown air systems which are very popular in Truck sleeper cabs, mini/midi bus, work vans and Ambulances because of their simplicity and ease of installation. The heater unit is mounted in a convienient space out of site and ducting routed to the areas of the vehicle requiring heat. The hot air outlets have open/close vents to control heat flow to secondary areas whilst the temperature of the overall interior is regulated by an electronic thermostat. Blown air heaters have a quick warm up time and help prevent condensation.

Option 2 - 'Wet Systems'

The MX range of Mikuni heaters are water heaters which are designed for engine pre-heating and heating of the vehicle interior via matrix or skirting heaters. Wet systems are popular in the Coach and Train sectors where they can be combined with air conditioning to provide full climate control. The 'wet' system offers more precise temperature control throughout the vehicle, plus the advantage of engine pre-heating to reduce engine wear and improve economy.

The increased efficiency on the latest generation Diesel TDI engines has created a larger market for preheaters due to the necessity for maintaining engine running temperature under low engine load conditions, the heater will constantly monitor the engine temperature and if it drops below 73oC it will switch on and boost the engine coolant to 78oC. This keeps engine emissions low, reduces wear on startup and improves fuel economy.

Marine Heaters

The Mikuni range of marine heaters are all Diesel fuelled independent units requiring a 12 or 24 volt D.C. supply. Fuel is drawn from the main tank of the boat via the heaters own metering pump and fed to the heater where it is ignited and burnt within a sealed combustion chamber. All the products of combustion are then exhausted via a flexible stainless steel tube to the outside of the boat. The Mikuni heaters are all electronically controlled and simple to use, just switch on at the thermostat, set the desired temperature and the rest is automatic!

There are basically two types of system available and a range of heaters to suit all sizes of craft, all of which are simple to use and economical to run.

Option 1 - Blown Air

The MY range of Mikuni heaters are blown air systems which are very popular in the marine sector because of their simplicity and ease of installation. The heater unit is mounted in a convenient space out of site and ducting routed to the areas of the boat requiring heat. The hot air outlets have open/close vents to control heat flow in the cabins and heads whilst the temperature of the main saloon is regulated by an electronic thermostat.

Option 2 - Central Heating

The MX range of Mikuni heaters are 'miniature boilers' which can be installed in your boat to provide central heating and domestic hot water. Depending on the style of boat either domestic radiators, custom built radiators or the kalori range of matrix heaters (see back page) can be used to distribute the heat. The central heating system offers more precise control of temperature throughout the boat plus the advantage of domestic hot water via a calorifier, all from one compact heat source. Comfort.

Whether you choose the MX or the MY heaters both types of system help to reduce condensation, a constant problem on boats, and therefore make the interior far more comfortable and homely. The investment of installing a heating system on your boat will extend your cruising season and help protect the interior from damp and mildew.

With a wide range of accessories available it is possible to add outlets to drying lockers and with a wet system heated towel rails in the heads to assist in drying wet kit etc.

The choice is yours!
